Wee Doggies!

Not much about the Keeneland sales makes much sense to a man of modest means like me.

Three million for a daughter of grade three winner Chimichurri, while the first foal out of Azeri can't find a home at 7.7 million. If you're willing to piss three million away for the offspring of a run of the mill, grade three winner, a few more million for Vallenzeri doesn't seem that unreasonable to me.

The air must be pretty thin at the high end of the market, it has to be, what else explains a world where you can spend $16 million on a dud like The Green Monkey, who earned $10,000 on the track and ends up standing at stud for $5000.

Do the math, he has to sire 3200 live foals just to earn his purchase price back, considering the physical frailties that truncated his racing career, I really doubt the Green Monkey has what it takes.

If he doesn't wind up in a can of dog food, I will be surprised.

And up from the ground came a bubbling crude. . .

I never though of Jed Clampett as a fashion trendsetter but from looks of this photograph, Sheik Mohammad and Jed have more in common than oil wells, the sheik looks like he just rolled out of bed in his Fruit of the Looms, grabbed the checkbook and headed right for the sales pavillion.

Wee doggies!
