You know I am bored when I start reading the condition book but its Tuesday, a slow news day and my mind wanders off to what’s up with racing's most famous maiden, that $16 million dollar mistake called The Green Monkey.
Rumor has it that he will make his maiden start during the second half of the Saratoga meet, that starts on August 15th and the number of open races written for three-year old maidens on the dirt can be counted on one hand. Of course the Todd could throw us a real curve ball and enter The Green Monkey on the turf but that seems unlikely. There is a race at 1-1/8 on August 24 but I can’t see Todd running him long in his first start, after all he is by Forestry. So I think you will finally see The Green Monkey make his debut on Travers Day and as fate would have it, not in the Travers but in the fourth race for maidens at 6 ½ furlongs.

nice sleuthing.
Don't call the Monkey a mistake...he may surprise us all and be the next comming of [insert name of favorite horse here]. Anyway as luck would have it there is also a MSW on the grass at a 1 1/6 in case Todd wants to throw us a curve ball. That would put his debut also on travers (or should I say Green Monkey day!!).
